Ocean trash is a serious pollution problem that affects the health of people, wildlife and local economies. Join our volunteer effort to care for our ocean and waterways. We will also be gathering data for the Ocean Conservancy. We will split into groups of 3, 1 person will have a bag, 1 person will have the data card and pencil and the last person will be picking up marine debris and letting the data collector know what he/she has. - Check-in will be at the shelter at Deering Point, located at 17350 Old Cutler Rd Miami, FL 33157 - Parking is available as you drive into the property. There is to be no parking in the drop off area. - trash bags, data cards, pencils, gloves, and garbage pick-up tongs will be provided - wear clothes that can get wet, muddy and dirty - wear closed toe shoes (crocs and flip flops are not allowed and will get lost in the mud) - Bring a change of clothes, a towel, extra shoes and a bag for dirty clothes and shoes, just in case it is really messy - bring a reusable water container (there are water fountains by the restrooms). Let’s reduce our plastic waste and refuse single-use disposable plastic water bottles, when possible - Snacks will be provided Volunteers must check in and sign waivers before any materials can be distributed **If you are under 18 and coming without a parent or guardian, you must have a parent/guardian sign the liability form & photo release**
