Join The Mission Continues New York City Platoons as we partner with the Bronx River Alliance and New York City Parks for an epic day of service in the Bronx Forest. The Bronx Forest contains one of the few natural landscapes remaining in the city. Originally home to hemlock, maple, black berry, sweet birch, red oak, and American birch trees the forest has been greatly affected by over-collection of native plants, fragmentation, pollution, and invasive species. Additionally, part of the 23-mile Bronx River winds through the Bronx Forest. Once a peaceful corridor of greenery for fishing, strolling, biking, boating and nature study amid the noise and bustle of urban life, the Bronx River quickly became a conduit for industrial and residential waste. To ensure that future generations can enjoy the beauty of the Bronx Forest and Bronx River, veterans and supporters are mobilizing on Earth Day to remove invasive species, plant native species, blaze a new path in the Bronx Forest, and clean up the Bronx River. We hope to see you there!
