Come out and support our friends at the Historic Congressional Cemetery, a hidden gem is Southeast, DC. 2nd Platoon will be teaming up with the grounds staff and other volunteers to complete some general ground maintenance/ upkeep, as well as installing a much-needed french drain on the hilly side of the cemetery. Rich in history, the 35-acre Congressional cemetery was founded in 1807. It’s hollowed grounds serves at internment to approximately 67,000 people, most of which were noteworthy citizens including the likes of Marion Barry, J. Edgar Hoover, John Philip Sousa to name a few. Although it is a cemetery, it also serves the surrounding community by providing daily tours, movie nights and off leash dog walking to members.
