Join Washington D.C. 3rd Platoon for a day of service at Mt. Vernon High School with our lead sponsor, BAE Systems! Over the past 4 years, Mt. Vernon High School, and their joint efforts with A Place To Stand Org, has donated over 100,000 lbs of food locally. On May 4th, we'll be supporting this ongoing effort with a project in the onsite community garden. In coordination with the School Garden Club, 3rd Platoon will clear brush, add soil, plant and fence a herb garden, build and paint four benches, build and paint one planter box bench, paint an existing planter box bench, paint several tables, build a compost bin to further the STEM learning development and remove debris from the existing garden area. Snacks and plenty of cold water will be available for all volunteers who join us. To help us keep an accurate count for food and water, PLEASE register for yourself and any other volunteers you plan to bring. Come with a smile and ready to work.
