Big Rock Beach stairway build event

April 20, 2024

12:00 PM - 04:00 PM EDT

New York City Platoon

Event overview

COASTAL PRESERVATION NETWORK is dedicated to restoring and protecting the coastal environment in Northeast Queens, improving local waterfront parks through hands-on action and advocacy, increasing public access to local waters, providing environmental education, and empowering residents to be greener in their daily lives. We focus on MacNeil and Powells Cove parks in College Point, two magnificent East River parks that are havens of active recreation and peaceful enjoyment.

The stairwell is the only way to access the Big Rock Beach for local residents and visitors but due to usage and weather, it has eroded again and is in need of repair. TMC and CPN are partnering for this project to update the stairwell access and ensure it is functional and safe.
