We are partnering with Arlington Parks and Rec. continuing to serve our community and beautifying various parts of the city of Arlington. This month we chose the latest addition to the impressive list of Arlington parks, the beautiful SouthWest Nature Preserve. The work will consist of trail maintenance, reconstruction and building add-ons and possible extensions. So come out and volunteer with us for a few hours! Bring your fishing poles for your leisure after the project. We will have lunch, snacks, water, gloves, protective gear, sunscreen, shirts and more for you guys! About Southwest Nature Reserve: Located just south of Interstate 20 and adjacent to Bowman Springs Drive has three ponds, one of which is complete with a fishing pier and a terraced outdoor seating and education area.(Catch and release fishing only) It is also host to several significant native plant communities, and has a high bluff located on sandstone outcroppings with dramatic views, including one as far away as downtown Fort Worth. From a parking lot, visitors can access the preserve via a concrete walkway and a boardwalk, which leads to the fishing pier. Several picnic tables have also been installed along the concrete walkway.
