Event overview

Mock Interview Day at KIPP Indy Unite on March 15th! If you would be able to spare some time, either 8:30am-11:30am or 12:00pm-3:00pm, the school and students would greatly appreciate your support! Below is a letter from KIPP: Hello KIPP Indy Partners and Supporters, My name is Katie Johnson, and I work at KIPP Indy Public Schools as the KIPP Through College Manager. In this role, two of my major priorities are high school placement for our 8th grade students and high school readiness for our 7th grade students. We are thankful for your past partnership and support, and I am reaching out to invite you to our annual Mock Interview Day on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. This event aims to provide our 7th grade students with opportunities to engage with committed community supporters and professionals like you. At KIPP Indy Public Schools, we do whatever it takes to get students To and Through college. As our 7th grade class prepares to transition to high school, we are working to prepare them with the soft skills needed to be successful in school and the workplace. Mock Interview Day allows students to practice their interviewing skills and become more comfortable speaking about their areas of strength. Each student will interview with three unfamiliar faces: members of the community who support the mission of KIPP Indy but are not known by the student. This will help simulate an actual interview and also give them a unique opportunity to meet a diverse range of professionals from the Indianapolis community. Mock Interview Day is divided into a morning (9:00-11:30) and afternoon (12:30- 3:00) two and a half hour sessions. Volunteers are able to sign up for either morning or afternoon session, but are more than welcome to sign up for both if your time permits. We will provide you with a general script of questions that are similar to those used in high school interviews. Each interview will last approximately 15 minutes. The first round of questions will last 10 minutes and then the interviewer will provide the student with constructive feedback that they are then able to use during their next interview. You will have the opportunity to interview a total of six students within the two and a half hour window. If you can only attend part of the sessions, please know that we are thankful for any amount of time that you are willing to spend with our students. Please RSVP by Friday, February 24, 2017!
