This September, stand with veterans, neighbors, and friends for a meaningful day of service and remembrance. We’re gathering at Oakland Avenue Urban Farm to honor those we lost on September 11, 2001 and to power a community-led vision for renewal in Detroit’s historic North End.
For more than a decade the Farm has been a beacon of resilience—growing healthy food, hosting life-changing education programs, creating cultural spaces, and generating jobs. When we pitch in together, we fuel a thriving civic commons that strengthens the neighborhood for years to come.
What we’ll accomplish
- Beautify garden beds — weed, clean, and organize shared spaces
- Build sturdy raised garden beds to expand growing capacity
- Plant flowers and add color across the site
- Mulch and restore the rose garden to keep it thriving
This is more than yard work—it's community-building. Expect hands-on projects, great people, and a day where your effort truly moves the needle. All fitness and experience levels are welcome.
