We will be joining Surfrider Foundation for a beach cleanup Sunday, August 24th at Huntington State Beach (Warner St parking).
Before coming out: - Bring reusable water bottle (we don't have cups), reusable gloves (gardening or mechanic), and sun protection. - Avoid bringing plastic bottles, bags of chips, and other single use plastic products. - I recommend wearing a hat, sunglasses, shorts, and flip flops. - Dress for the beach
Arriving: - Parking will be free. Let the gate attendant know you are there for the Surfrider cleanup. Magnolia's gate opens at 6am. All others at 8am. -
Check in at the popup tent - We have bags --but IF you have any reusable bags TO DONATE they will be grateful Cleaning up: - You can scavenge the shoreline, beach, parking lot, etc. - Do NOT collect seaweed, wood, rocks, stones, seashells by the seashore sold by Sally. Let us know if you find any 'sleeping' animals for Parks and Rec. to scoop up. - Bring us back your trash once your bag is full, time runs out, or you must leave. We will weigh the trash, record the weight, then sort out the trash for items to be recycled - For those that need community service hours, it is at this point that you can get a form stating you attended the cleanup.
