Project Homeless Connect will hold their 82nd Community Day of Service at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium on Wednesday, September 11th. Lets join them in making this Day of Service possible! PHC Community Day of Service events have helped hundreds of participants access resources under one roof from over 40+ providers: including DMV, employment and public benefits assistance, dental and vision care, legal aid, veteran services, and expert medical attention. In the face of such a complex issue as homelessness, the day is an inspiring look at what we can accomplish as a mobilized community of care. It is also a wonderfully impactful team-building opportunity. Checking-In Upon Arrival: Please enter through the security door at the corner of Grove and Polk Streets, on the Grove Street side. Let the venue staff know you are volunteering/working with Project Homeless Connect, sign in at the security desk, and then head to the Volunteer Check-In in Polk Hall. Please leave your backpacks and valuables at home! We do not have a coat check or secure place for you to leave your belongings, and PHC is not liable for lost or stolen items. What to Wear: If you participated in our event prior, please wear your PHC Volunteer T-Shirt. If you do not have a PHC Volunteer T-shirt, we will provide a Project Homeless Connect T-shirt on the event day. We ask you to wear and recommend comfortable clothes and shoes! Food, Water, and Breaks: We encourage breaks. PHC provides lunch, coffee, & snacks! Bring your energy, fuel, and water bottle. Water fountains are also found throughout the Bill Graham building. Parking & Transportation: We recommend taking public transit. Check 511 for the quickest route. The closest paid parking is the Civic Center Garage, located under Civic Center Plaza. No Photography: We don’t allow photographs on-site except in front of our Project Homeless Connect Step and Repeat Banner or our Project Homeless Connect photo backdrops found in Service Provider/Volunteer Central. Volunteer Training: We will provide instructions upon arrival and show you how you can help. Standard placements include getting to know participants one-on-one as you help them navigate the space as a Participant Escort/Buddy, Participant Check-In, Translator, Bag checker, and more. We take pride in ensuring that every role is meaningful and provide volunteer support, not to mention a meal at the end of your shift and a PHC Volunteer T-Shirt for first-time volunteers.
