OPERATION HARRIS CO TX - BERYL ROLL - RESPONSE

Event overview

In response to Hurricane Beryl that made landfall on Monday, 8 July 2024, causing widespread flooding, spawning multiple tornadoes, cutting power to more than 2.7 million residents, damaging over 1,200 homes, and causing seven deaths – The Mission Continues will be collaborating with Team Rubicon South Branch and we will mobilize to support Harris County, TX on a Type 4 response operation. The support response efforts will begin Friday, 19 July 2024 through Sunday, 26 Jul 2024. Oscar Arauco (IC) will lead as they perform roof tarping, chainsaw operations, muck-outs, and debris removal. General responders will load and stack vegetative debris and assorted other debris per the debris management plan. Debris will be stacked (6-pile FEMA style) at the curb for disposal. Response Trailer #653, with the requested loadout, will be delivered from the Humble cache on 13 July 2024. FOB and Billets are located at Pines Presbyterian Church in Houston, TX. The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

What is a Service Platoon? 

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.
