Veterans Day Celebration in Dorado

November 11, 2022

09:30 AM - 02:00 PM AST

Puerto Rico Platoon

Event overview

Veterans Day is a month away!! November 11th is the one day set aside each year to honor those who have served and continue to serve our nation. This date was chosen in remembrance of the ending of World War I hostilities in 1918. This day offers us a great opportunity to teach civilians about the sacrifice service members and their families make year-round.  The American Legion, The Mission Continues and the Mayor of the town of Dorado have joined forces to celebrate the Heroes of our Island that have given so much in defense of Freedom. We will honor the Veterans by conmemorating the service rendered with a tasteful ceremony & music while we also conduct Reinaguration of the American Legion Post 45 and swear in of Legioneers with comrades of all Eras. Veterans Day this year will center around the word “Honor”  which we hold so dear to our heart. Veterans are proud of their military service in defending our Nation.  Honor reflects the military value and tradition of answering the call to duty.  There is distinct honor in serving to protect our way of life and the Constitution of the United States of America. Now as many of us are retired we can continue to serve in nonprofits directed to our Vetetan community to join together and continue to serve our youth & Communities. Come join us!!

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
