Honor Flight Greeting!

September 16, 2017

07:00 AM - 11:00 AM EDT

Washington, DC Platoon

Event overview

What is Honor Flight? The Honor Flight Network flies WWII, Korea and Vietnam veterans from 127 cities, free of charge, to visit their memorials in Washington DC. Join us for a morning of greetings on Sep 16! We will be greeting veterans from Kentucky and Wisconsin! This greeting sets the stage for just how WONDERFUL the rest of the day will be for our Veterans! As an example, one of our Hubs was preparing to head home after their day in DC. The flight attendant asked, “How was your day? Did you enjoy yourself?” The Veteran replied, “I just want to come back and relive that arrival into the gate this morning. I’ll never forget it for the rest of my life. All those people that were there to see us. And the music and cheering. It was wonderful! I’ll just never forget it for the rest of my life!“ There are 2 places to register for this event. The first is with The Mission Continues link below and the second is with Honor Flight to request a Gate Access Pass (GAP) (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdtcmrlV6bWunYbPbP0_zScIOFc7vemUsNBB59YB7qGkLG65g/viewform) . You must request your GAP no later than 36 hours prior to the flight arrival time. GAP for all the flights must be picked up before the first flight! I recommend doing it now so you don’t forget! Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

How to volunteer

Click “Attend” to fill in simple volunteer information. You will get an email confirmation and updates about this event through your choice of email and text messages.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
