SERVICE LEADERSHIP CORPS TRAINING

As a member of the Service Leadership Corps, you’ll have the chance to keep learning and growing throughout the year. These training sessions will be led by professionals, Mission Continues staff, or former members who can share their knowledge and experiences. You’ll get to improve your abilities in areas like finding and involving volunteers, building partnerships with community organizations, planning projects, taking care of yourself, and more. Each training will also be a great opportunity to connect with others and develop new skills.

NEW TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

Mission Ready is a series of virtual sessions crafted to prepare, support, and coach all Platoon Leadership Teams as you navigate the process of planning for the four National Days of Service of 2025! 

These virtual sessions are aligned to the phases of the service project lifecycle and the tasks included in Basecamp, our project management tool – enabling Platoon Leadership Teams to plan and execute high-quality service events. 

SESSION 1 – CULTIVATING LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIPS  

In a world where meaningful connections can make all the difference, the upcoming session “Cultivating Long-Term Partnerships” is your chance to learn how to spark relationships that leave a lasting impact in your local communities. Discover how to bridge the gap between your service platoon and your community partners by focusing on the assets within the community and your shared goals and values. This session will explore how a long-term partnership can amplify your service work and create ripple effects that strengthen the entire community. Whether you’ve already identified a partner for National Days of Service in 2025 or are just beginning the search, this interactive session is designed to equip you with the tools and strategies to cultivate relationships that will fuel future projects.

SESSION 2 – STRETCHING YOUR BUDGET: MAXIMIZING YOUR RESOURCES

Being a platoon leadership team member is an important role and knowing how to make the most of your budget is key. In the upcoming session, “Stretching Your Budget: Maximizing Your Resources,” you’ll uncover valuable techniques to bridge the gap between limited resources and maximum project impact. 

Designed for those who want to enhance their community partnerships while keeping costs in check, this session dives deep into creative solutions for maximizing your platoons impact. From leveraging in-kind donations to making the most of The Mission Continues’ non-profit status, you’ll learn how to strengthen your project’s impact without straining your budget. Plus, discover strategies to cultivate stronger community connections while delivering high-quality service projects that make a lasting impact.

SESSION 2 – STRETCHING YOUR BUDGET, PART 2: IN-KIND DONATIONS & VSO PARTNERSHIPS

Get ready to build on what you learned in our last Budget session! “Stretching Your Budget, Part 2: Maximizing Resources Pt. 2” is your next step in mastering the art of resourcefulness as a platoon leadership team member. In this second session, we’ll dive deeper into creative strategies for securing in-kind donations and building impactful partnerships with Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs) to amplify your efforts. 

Building on the foundation of “Stretching Your Budget: Maximizing Your Resources,” this session focuses on taking your budget even further by leveraging powerful collaborations and community assets. You’ll walk away with the tools to create high-quality service projects while keeping costs low—so your platoon can make the biggest possible impact on your community.

HUDDLE SPACES

As we get close to executing the first project of 2025, Huddle Spaces are your go-to for collaboration, Q&A, and project preparation. These open sessions are designed to support you and your team as you fine-tune your plans, ensuring every detail is set for success. Whether you’re finalizing your volunteer roster, need guidance on logistics, or simply want to brainstorm with fellow leaders, these spaces are here to help you feel confident and connected. 

Drop in anytime during the session, ask questions, share best practices, and get real-time feedback from your peers and TMC staff! You must attend at least one huddle space to be eligible for an incentive.

TIER 1 – SESSION ATTENDANCE

  • Individual: Each individual that attends will receive a gift card after each session 
  • Team: If your entire team shows up to a session, you’ll be entered in a drawing for a team prize! 

 TIER 1 – PHASE ATTENDANCE

  • Individual: Attend all the sessions in a phase and you’ll receive an additional prize!
  • Team: If your entire team shows up for all the sessions in a phase, you’ll be entered for a drawing for a team prize

TIER 3 – SERIES ATTENDANCE 

  • Individual: Attend every session in phases 1 and 2 and at least one huddle space in phase 3, and you’ll be entered in a drawing to win a guaranteed spot at Mass Deployment 2025!
  • Team: Enter a drawing to win an additional a special grand prize for your team!  

MISSION READY FAQ

Is this training mandatory? 

While this training is not mandatory, it is highly encouraged to attend and participate.

How should I prepare for this training? 

There are no required actions to take before each session. However, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you take the Foundational Courses in the Veteran Online Leadership Training (VOLT) on LearnUpon. Specific details about which course ties to each session can be found under the course descriptions above.

If I can’t attend the session, can I still have access to the information?

Yes, absolutely! All recordings will be made available in the VOLT on LearnUpon within one week after the live session.

Does watching the recording count for the incentive?

Unfortunately, we are unable to count watching the recording as a part of the incentive. However, you can attend a session outside of your time zone!

Do I need to attend all the huddle spaces?

No. However, to be eligible for the Tier 3 incentives, you must attend at least one huddle space.
