Pittsburgh Platoon

Event overview

Have you heard? Pittsburgh 2nd Platoon is undergoing a change in leadership! Our beloved Platoon Leader for almost 2 years is passing the Platoon Leader torch on to one of our finest Platoon Members, Joel Laudenslager. Joel will officially start this role in April 2017 and this project will be his first official project as the new Platoon Leader! Please join us in welcoming Joel in this new role and honoring Matt for his last two years of dedicated service. In the true spirit of The Mission Continues, Joel will hit the ground running with this amazing service project! We will be preparing Hosanna House's outdoor youth facilities for it's 2017 summer camp! Children from across eastern Pittsburgh attend camp here; to include youth from Homewood, Wilkinsburg, Larimer and East Liberty. We will be painting, building ramps, landscaping and much more! This will be a fun one! Lunch will be provided by Hosanna House! We strive to make our projects accessible for everyone and this project meets those standards as well! Come and help us get the camp facilities looking better than ever!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
