10:00 AM - 02:30 PM CST

Nashville Platoon

Event overview

As we embark on the third phase of our ambitious greenhouse refurbishment project at Antioch Middle School, The Mission Continues is proud to integrate the spirit of service and community engagement that defines our organization. This initiative is part of our MLK Jr. Day of Service to deploy our dedicated veteran-led volunteer force into under-resourced communities across the country in alignment with MLK's Legacy of Service. This year, we welcome new and returning volunteers to leave a #LEGACYOFSERVICE with us. Throughout January, paralleling our national efforts, PLT615 will join service platoons from coast to coast, leading a collective endeavor by hosting impactful projects for veterans and local communities. At Antioch Middle School, we continue this tradition by focusing on sustainable education and environmental stewardship through the greenhouse project. Project Goals: Enhancing Educational Opportunities - Creating a dynamic learning environment for botany, ecology, and sustainability students. Community Engagement - Serving as a platform for collaboration and skill-sharing among veterans, community members, and students. Sustainable Impact - Establishing a lasting educational and environmental resource for the school and the broader community. Activities: -Completing structural enhancements of the greenhouse. -Implementing innovative and energy-efficient systems. -Planting diverse flora and initiating educational programs. Join Us: We invite veterans, community members, and all those passionate about education and sustainability to participate in this enriching project. Your support and involvement are crucial in realizing the vision of this initiative. Let's nurture the future, one plant at a time, while honoring the legacy of service that defines our organization and our commitment to communities.

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
