The Tampa Platoon will be assisting with the installation of a brand new Educational Pavilion at the Tampa Heights Community Garden. The Tampa Heights Community Garden was established in the summer of 2011. A program of the Tampa Heights Junior Civic Association (THJCA), this community garden is part of the Tampa Heights Neighborhood Plan. The Neighborhood Plan describes the vision of a neighborhood where all live in a safe, healthy, creative community of caring people. Planning partners, Metropolitan Ministries and the Tampa Garden Club, began working with the THJCA in 2010. Additionally, the Tampa Heights Community Garden has twice been named the best garden in Florida and tied for best garden in the South by the National Garden Club, Inc. More than 300 residents have been part of the garden. We will be cutting and measuring wood, and assembling parts of the pavilion with the expectation that it will be complete by the end of the week.
