Cold Weather Shelter

The Cold Weather Shelter opens any time the temperature is 32 degrees or below (including wind chill) anywhere in Hillsborough County. Once activated, it takes at least 18 volunteers to run the shelter every night that we are open for 35 homeless individuals. REGISTER @ https://www.missioncontinues.org/event/details?id=a1l40000004mjTKAAY Positions that need to be filled are as follows: (Must be 18 years or older) ***Food Pick-Up: This person picks the food up from Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa and delivers it to the Sadie Recreation Center in Brandon by 5:45pm. ***1st Shift (6-10pm): These volunteers check the guests in, serve dinner, and help the guests set up their bedding. ***2nd Shift (10pm-1am): These volunteers make sure that all runs smoothly as guests settle in for the night. ***3rd Shift (1am-4am): The night watch crew keep company with any late night talkers and are simply there to make sure the guests are well through the night. ***4th Shift (4am-7am): This group of volunteers set out breakfast for the guests and help them put their bedding away. They also ensure that the property is clear by 7am. ***Laundry: This person picks up all of the used blankets to be washed and returned before the next time the Cold Weather Shelter is activated again.
