Service Project

Texas Ave Dog Park Improvements

May 09, 2026

09:00 AM - 01:00 PM EDT

Washington, DC Platoon

Event overview

Come out and join Travis Manion Foundation's Washington, D.C. Service platoon and get ready to roll up your sleeves and make a lasting impact in the community! During this project, we’ll be taking on two meaningful initiatives that blend hands-on work with visible, lasting results.
At the Texas Avenue Dog Park, we’ll focus on enhancing the space for both pets and their owners by making improvements that promote safety, cleanliness, and overall enjoyment. This may include refreshing park features, tidying up common areas, and adding small upgrades that make a big difference in how the space is used by the community.
Over at Plummer Elementary School, we’ll be returning to the garden we previously built to give it some much-needed care and attention. Volunteers will help revitalize the space by weeding, planting, and reinforcing garden beds to ensure it continues to thrive as a learning and wellness resource for students and staff.
This is a great opportunity to come together, get your hands dirty, and see the direct impact of your efforts. Whether you’re passionate about community spaces, education, or just looking to give back in a fun and engaging way, there’s something here for everyone!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
