Service Project

Rooted in Service: Spring Renewal at Veterans Village

April 04, 2026

10:00 AM - 02:00 PM

Portland Platoon

Event overview

Serve alongside volunteers for Earth Month Service Projects, one of six national service initiatives carried out by TMF veterans, families of the fallen, and inspired civilians across the country. These projects will focus on showcasing community, sustainability, and shared purpose, all in the name of a fallen hero. Join Travis Manion Foundation and local volunteers as we return to Veterans Village for an Operation Legacy service project supporting veterans in our community. Volunteers will help prepare and set up raised garden beds for new program participants, creating a welcoming space where residents can grow their own plants and connect with others. This project is a great opportunity to work alongside fellow volunteers and program participants while contributing to the beautification and functionality of the property. Please note that this location has uneven ground and participation is limited to volunteers 18 years and older. Tasks will be available for multiple ability levels. Together, we’ll help create a space that fosters connection, purpose, and community for the veterans who call Veterans Village home. This project honors the life and legacy of DC3 Nathan "Nate" B. Bruckenthal, USCG.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
