Los Angeles Platoon

Event overview

Michelson Found Animals in conjunction with the City of Burbank is hosting The Better Neighbor Project Pet Pantry & Pet Wellness Day on May 29th from 10 am-2 pm at McCambridge Park in Burbank, CA. The free basic pet services are being offered by their partners through appointment only and include: microchipping, vaccines, flea control, and hygiene services (ear/teeth cleaning and nail trimming). There will be other vendors in attendance providing humane education, animal surrender prevention resources, free leashes/collars, and pet id tags. The pet pantry is open to the public with or without an appointment. We are in need of 8-15 volunteers to help with various tasks including signing in clients with and without appointments at check-in, distributing food and resources at the drive-thru pet pantry, refilling water bowls, guiding traffic/clients, line support for clients waiting for services, helping offload and load supplies. TMC will also have a booth at the event and will need to have two people dedicated to manning the booth during the event also. The volunteer shifts on the 29th are from 8 am - 2:30 pm. In addition, if anyone is available on Friday, May 28th, the Foundation could use 2-3 volunteers at their store, Adopt and Shop, located at: 4235 Sepulveda Blvd, Culver City, CA 90230, to help load all the necessary supplies and the food that will be needed at the drive-thru pantry. The attached volunteer waiver can be filled out on-site, the day of the event, or emailed prior to the event to: eyeo@missioncontinues.org. For those who would like to make an appointment for their pet please email or text the following: rsvp@foundanimals.org / (323) 609-3269. See attached flyer for more information. Appointment slots will only be available while supplies last. Limited to 3 animals per family. We hope to see you there for this wonderful furry event!

Who We Are

The Mission Continues is a national non-profit that empowers veterans to continue serving in our nation’s under-resourced communities, giving veterans the opportunity to keep serving even after the uniform comes off, right here at home. Our programs deploy veterans and volunteers to work alongside nonprofit partners and community leaders to improve educational resources, tackle food insecurity, foster neighborhood identity, and more.

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.

What is a Service Platoon?

Service Platoons are your opportunity to engage and connect with veterans and community members while generating community impact in a real and tangible way. Led by veteran volunteer platoon leaders, each platoon works with dedicated community partners and volunteers to provide the manpower and support that they need to help them do their work more effectively.

We currently have service platoons in more than 40+ cities across the country that are having events at least once a month. Everyone is invited to serve, regardless of veteran status: a service platoon is for you if you have a passion for service.
