Houston's 5th platoon, led by Army veteran Monique Rodriguez, is partnered with the Greater East End Management District to make the East End a dynamic and distinct community.
The East End is a district located between the eastern edge of downtown to the Port of Houston and South to Hobby Airport. The district is home to Houston’s early history in industry and is the site of Harrisburg, the seat of the government for the Republic of Texas in 1836. The area includes two of Houston’s oldest Hispanic neighborhoods, Magnolia Park and Second Ward. Over time, the East End became a district subject to crime and gang activity causing a shift in the socio-economic demographic.
In 1999, The Greater East End Management District was formed by the Texas Legislature to function as a tool for economic development and revitalization for the 16 square-mile area. They have secured more than $29 million in funding for infrastructure improvements, beautification, security and public safety, and other programs designated by its board of directors.
The Mission Continues will partner with The Greater East End Management District to help create a safe environment within the district in both perception and reality and enhance the image of the district by improving infrastructure and amenities.
