Home Fire Safety Brigade

April 22, 2017

10:00 AM - 01:00 PM EDT

Cleveland Platoon

Event overview

Join us as we team up with The American Red Cross to conduct free smoke alarm installations and fire safety education in your community. Did you know that 7 people die every day as a result of a home fire? Did you know that 60% of home fire deaths occur in homes that lack working smoke alarms? The American Red Cross has already saved 111 lives by installing smoke alarms and providing fire safety education across the country! **We will meet at the Maple Heights Fire Department (Address will be provided soon)** After meeting, our brief and instructions will be given promptly at 1000. After the brief we can car pull to the neighborhoods to start the process. We will also divide up into 2-3 person teams and can expect each house to take about 15 minutes. After completion we will return to the fire house for a debrief. Once complete, we'll head to a local establishment for some appetizers for all those who can attend!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
