The San Antonio Food Bank operates a farm at Mission San Juan that provides food directly for the community. On January 27th, from 9:00am to 12:00, we'll be harvesting most of our winter crops. Beets, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, collard greens, radishes, and turnips could be ready to come out of the farm. Additionally, our peach orchard will have weeds that must be controlled, and new mulch and compost should be applied. Volunteers will be split into multiple groups with team leads for different crops and duties. For those harvesting, they will be trained and then depending on the crop they will pull vegetables out by hand or with knives, and placing them into large containers. They will then be cleaned for distribution. San Antonio Food Bank will provide us with tools, shade tents, water, and music.
