Rochester Platoon

Event overview

Rochester Platoon team members and volunteers will assist the staff and other assembled volunteers on January 5, 2022, starting at 11 AM in a clean up effort of the Peace Village Homeless Encampment located on the right side of Industrial Street, which is a small side street off Broad Street in downtown Rochester, NY. Google maps will pinpoint the end of Industrial Street; follow to the pinpoint and Peace Village will be on the right side mid-way. There is no actual address. Peace Village is a city sanctioned homeless encampment and is overseen by several non-profit entities. Rochester Platoon has joined with Homes 4 the Homeless in this effort. The effort for this project is to simply pick up accumulated trash and debris, and to neaten up the area. The City of Rochester is providing trash dumpsters, and the other non-profit agencies are providing trash pinchers. Rochester Platoon will also have work gloves. Face masks are higly recommended, as is cold weather clothing.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
