The Mission Continues Comes to Montevallo! The Mission Continues - Birmingham Platoon, in collaboration with the city of Montevallo is incredibly excited to extend an invitation to all individuals, organizations & community stakeholders for the inaugural platoon service project. This service project is one of many other programs happening nationwide as part of The Mission Continues national service campaign - MLK Day of Service - to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his vital role as a prominent leader of the civil rights movement. The project will kickoff Phase I of the comprehensive plans brought forth by The Mission Continues - Birmingham Platoon leadership that outlines needed repairs & improvements to one of the city’s vital park & recreation areas that our citizens use daily. The event will be held at George Daily Park in front of historic Montevallo Middle School, formerly Prentice High School; a segregated school for African Americans prior to the passing of federal education legislation during the civil rights movement. Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in several improvement projects such as: -park cleanup -lite demolition -garbage & rubbish disposal -lawn care -painting -horticulture & beautification -minor improvements to existing park areas -minor repairs to existing park areas -basic new construction -phase II project planning The service project environment will be very lite, upbeat, fast-paced & rewarding. It will feature refreshments for non registered participants & a DJ to set the mood while great things are happening for our city. Registered attendees will receive free breakfast & lunch, a custom event shirt, & be eligible for great prizes & some exclusive TMC swag. Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
