Harlem 1st Platoon is going to make some real, lasting change with Harlem Grown by supporting their community gardens! Harlem Grown's mission is to inspire youth to lead healthy and ambitious lives through mentorship and hands-on education in urban farming, sustainability, and nutrition. Founded in 2011, they operate local urban farms, increase access to and knowledge of healthy food for Harlem residents, and provide garden-based development programs to Harlem youth. Because food justice is more than just providing and distributing food, their model seeks to positively impact the entire community through mentorship, and partnerships to create sustainable change. One of the ways they are working to fulfill their mission is by raising support for the physical renovation of abandoned lots in Harlem, transforming them into thriving urban farms. And we at The Mission Continues Harlem 1st Platoon are going to help! We will be making garden beds and supporting additional gardening projects for Harlem Grown's expanding list of community gardens to educate youth. Harlem Grown is establishing a brand new community garden at 127th St and needs our help to provide its services to the youth in Harlem that need it. Lets make this new garden to educate youth happen!
