Operation Enduring Service: Washington DC Meal Pack

September 11, 2021

08:00 AM - 04:00 PM EDT

Washington, DC Platoon

Event overview

The Mission Continues is inviting you to participate in the Washington, DC Meal Pack for 9/11 Day.

The Mission Continues and 9/11 Day is collaborating with Mayor's Office on Volunteerism and Partnerships, AmeriCorps, Voices for National Service, and With Honor to organize a signature meal pack in Washington, DC in observance of the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and the federally-recognized September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.

On Saturday, September 11, 2021, more than 1,000 volunteers from throughout the Washington, DC community will help pack at least 200,000 healthy, non-perishable meals. To help address the growing food crisis, all the meals will be donated to and distributed by the Capital Area Food Bank to individuals and families who are food insecure.

Volunteers will participate in a 2-hour shift at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. This project is family friendly – we just recommend that kids are old enough (12+) to help pack meals.

Please Click the following link to Register: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/washington-dc-meal-pack-for-911-day-tickets-164984845113?discount=Raytheon to choose from available volunteer shifts (you’ll pack meals for approximately two-hours).

All volunteers must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination upon entry and masks must be worn at all times. Children over the age of 12 may participate, but must register individually and be able to show proof of vaccination upon entry.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
