NONCAMPING: PHASE II RIO SABANA RESTORATION TRAIL

February 20, 2021

09:00 AM - 04:00 PM AST

Puerto Rico Platoon

Event overview

A continuation of a collaboration made with Corazón Latino to complete the Certification Process of Road 191 as a Therapy Trail. The Puerto Rico Platoon will be camping for the upcoming Rio Sabana Restoration Service Project. We will continue our maintenance of Road 191 Therapy Trail and start widening a new 1 1/2 mile trail (approximately 3 feet wide). This area has been closed due to landslides, which destroyed the trail areas after Hurricane Maria. The Forest Service has requested help because they lack the personnel and funds to maintain these trails. In collaboration with the community members of Naguabo and the National Forest Therapy Guides, TMC Puerto Rico will continue to support the maintenance of these trails quarterly throughout 2021 after their certification. Our collaborative goal is to ensure the safety of both tourist and locals wishing to utilize these beautiful trails.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
