LA MISSION CONTINUES 1st platoon has answered the call to come help lead groups of volunteers at LA Works’ 9/11 Day of Service. 1000+ volunteers are going to come together this day to make 300,000+ meals for the hungry. WHEN: Wednesday 9/11, 7AM – 1:30pm. Breakfast will be available. WHERE: The Frank Hotchkins Memorial Training Center at 1700 Stadium Way Los Angeles, CA 90012 THE PROJECT: As a Project Leader, you will head the course for volunteers and make sure the job gets done. Project Leader duties may include: Instructing volunteers how to pack the meals Running ingredients and finished meals between tables Sorting/opening supply boxes Checking in volunteers Handing out safe-food-handling gear Guiding parking Directing volunteers and answering general questions Maintaining VIP and break rooms SHIFTS: Two shifts are available. LA 1 will be supporting the morning shift. 7am - 1:30pm. Breakfast at top of shift. TRAINING: No advance training required. You will be trained at the top of your shift. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Runners must be able to lift up to 50lbs. If you're unable to do so, we can assign you to a different role. Most leaders will stand for most of their shift. Please let us know if you're unable to do so. Please note the meals may include soy and other food allergens. An allergen-free environment is not guaranteed. Please come in closed-toe shoes and comfy clothes you don't mind getting dirty in. IMPACT: You'll be one of 30 million Americans volunteering, donating, and performing good deeds on 9/11 to honor the victims and those who rose in service - PLUS - every Project Leader gets two tickets to the following Wednesday 9/18 Dodger game!
