Please join the Washington D.C. Service Platoons and our community partners at UDC's Bertie Backus Campus for our 5th annual 9/11 Day of Service. Bertie Backus was revered for her work in character development and was appointed by President Roosevelt to direct a ground-breaking youth education program in 1933. This 9/11 we'll honor her and the school who shares her legacy by turning their garden into a flourishing oasis. Tasks for the day will include: Garden bed construction Planting and weeding Painting and much more!

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
