Service Weekend at Camp Colley

August 25, 2018

08:00 AM - 05:00 PM

Phoenix Platoon

Event overview

Join The Mission Continues Phoenix 1st Platoon and regional staff at Camp Colley for a weekend of service and camaraderie from Friday, May 4 to Sunday May 6. Camp Colley is a secluded adventure camp nestled in the inspiring Ponderosa Pines on Arizona's Mogollon Rim. Owned by the City of Phoenix and funded by Camp Colley Foundation, the camp introduces youth facing life challenges to the fun and education of outdoor recreation. Programming at Camp Colley effectively engages youth to build self-confidence, resilience, and healthy relationships- all of which provide necessary social supports for youth to transition more successfully into adulthood. There are multiple lodging options for volunteers, including a 16-person bunk house, 5 12-person yurt tents, or they can bring their own personal tent and camping gear. A total of 6 meals will be provided in the camp's dining hall at no cost to volunteers - dinner on Friday evening, breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. For the project on Saturday, volunteers will work to build a campfire area with seating, a multi-obstacle confidence course, install a flag pole, and much more! Following the project, we will enjoy the fruits of our labor at the new campfire area, forging deeper connections and recharging for the morning ahead. On Sunday morning, we will test the equipment we will have built the day prior by opening the confidence course to those interested in competing in team time trials!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
