Among the most powerful ways to honor those who have served, is to continue serving with their sacrifice in mind. On Veterans Day, join The Mission Continues Detroit Platoons for a special collaboration with The Detroit Lions, Comerica Bank, and Caniff Electric Supply Co., and United Way for Southeastern Michigan for a day of impact at the Boys and Girls Club. The clubhouse serves 60-100 children and teens daily, and is in continuous need of support to create and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for the youth to gather, learn, and play. For Hometown Huddle, we will take on a number of projects to revive the clubhouse and encourage creativity and learning. Projects will include the construction of a reading loft, painting, and the complete overhaul of the students' coat and backpack storage room. Volunteers should be equipped with a can-do attitude and the ability to work as a team. This event is family-friendly, and will include activities for younger children. Children under 18 years require an adult companion who can sign a liability release on their behalf. All ages and abilities are welcomed so please contact the organizers if you have any additional needs or for a special volunteer role request.
