Event overview

Day one of Operation District Drilldown will take place at the Fort Dupont Community Gardens and Park. This 376 acre wooded park was once home to an earthen fort built to protect Washington, DC, during the Civil War. Today the community uses this space for nature walks, biking, caring for garden plots in in Fort Dupont Community Gardens - a place that's known for a place of physical, mental, spiritual, and social renewal, experiencing environmental education, concerts, and ranger-led programs.

Volunteers will also need to complete the waiver for the National Park Service.

Probable Tasks Include:
Improve trail maps, signage, and blazes
Repair road around garden with fresh gravel
Install metal garden post signs for each community garden plot
Offer assistance and materials to fix up garden plots/fences- will offer seating options and garden bed options
Mulch aisleways of community garden

Operation District Drilldown:
Get ready to witness the power of a veteran-led community impact with our 7th Annual Mass Deployment! This electrifying team-based service event brings together veterans, local partners, and volunteers in a single city for an entire week of non-stop action.

Starting on June 23, we will be partnering with six local organizations to complete transformational projects that will boost the current efforts of the partner and impact local community members. Our projects will be taking place in Ward 7 and Ward 8. For more information visit our website.
