MY connection to 9/11
  • I decided to train to become a first responder (fire, police, EMT) after 9/11

  • I was living in New York City or Washington, DC on 9/11

Where were you when you first heard about or saw the 9/11 terrorist attacks?

I was working for Pitney Bowes Management Services as a mail room manager servicing AON Risk services at 2 World Trade Center on the 101st floor that morning. A few days later I was interviewed by Mr. Tom Brokaw of NBC news regarding my heroism of saving myself and the 12 workers that were with me that morning.

How did the events of that day shape your life and inspire your service to this country?

I was already a hero in the minds of my wife and two sons so that has not changed at all.

What are you excited to contribute to your community, however you define it, for the next 20 years?

I am a 78, soon to be a 79 year old veteran who had left and right hip replacements. I have also been diagnosed with Atrial Fibrulation, plus I have a hearing loss in both ears from my service in Viet Nam from Aug. 1965 - Aug. 1966, so I do not get around as much as I used to.
