MY connection to 9/11
  • I was living in New York City or Washington, DC on 9/11

Where were you when you first heard about or saw the 9/11 terrorist attacks?

I was working on Wall St. at the Citibank building, which is only a few blocks away. A co-worker came running into our department saying that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center.

How did the events of that day shape your life and inspire your service to this country?

It was bad for me. I was leaving the building and saw the plane sticking out of the building, and then the second plane hit the other tower. I have been traumatized ever since and can no longer work on any high story buildings. I walked home from Wall St. to 110th St, and was terrified. I served my when I was in the Air Force from 1979 - 1984. However, I never thought I would experience what I went through on 9/11

What are you excited to contribute to your community, however you define it, for the next 20 years?

Helping other veterans.
