MY connection to 9/11

  • I was serving in the military on 9/11

Where were you when you first heard about or saw the 9/11 terrorist attacks?

I was an Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist stationed at Ellsworth AFB, working B-1 Bombers. We had worked all night and we're nearing the end of our shift when we walked into our area. We watched in horrific shock as the fist aircraft was shown smoldering after it impacted the first tower. The shock slowly turned to anger as we watched the second.

How did the events of that day shape your life and inspire your service to this country?

As one we were focused... with anger in our hearts... we did what we were trained to do... and we responded.

What are you excited to contribute to your community, however you define it, for the next 20 years?

My days of actionable service are long past. Our contribution was absolute resolve. 22 years and 8 months of service freely given in service to the United States of America... to our values.. our communities... our brothers... our sisters... our sons... our daughters... our way of life.
