MY connection to 9/11

  • I was serving in the military on 9/11

Where were you when you first heard about or saw the 9/11 terrorist attacks?

I was at my place of employment. US Steel, Gary, Indiana.

How did the events of that day shape your life and inspire your service to this country?

I was recalled November 16, 2001 - June 28, 2003. My duties consisted of boat security detail for our war ship on loading weapons to go fight in the war.

What are you excited to contribute to your community, however you define it, for the next 20 years?

That fact that I was willing and able the minute I got recalled. I had 48 hours to report after being told I was recalled.
