For the past three out of four years, our beloved Orange County has led Florida in juvenile arrests. There were 6,547 juvenile arrests in Orange County last year alone. Roughly 18 juveniles arrested a day. That's 38% more than Miami-Dade (where the population is nearly double).
Led by retired Army Captain Bobby Withers, 1st Platoon of The Mission Continues Orlando is an exceptionally diverse group of volunteers mobilizing to support Central Florida organizations. These nonprofits work tirelessly to positively impact the lives of at-risk youth through mentorship and hands-on training.
The Platoon has conducted large-scale service missions with The Boys & Girl’s Club of Central Florida, Crossroads Corral, Home Builders International (Project Bridge – Eckard Kids), an organization that provides transitional services to boys and girls ages 11-21 reintegrating back to their home communities from juvenile justice residential commitment programs, and many more.
Recently, Orlando’s 1st Service Platoon has responded to the devastation of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and their resulting humanitarian crisis. Through projects directly benefiting the children of displaced Puerto Rican families, Orlando’s 1st has shown through action that we are dedicated to alleviating suffering in our community.
We work hard, we lead, and we achieve transformational change that inspires future generations to serve.
Join us as we change the lives of youth in central Florida!
