With more than 122,000 Chicagoans living in food deserts with little access to healthy food options, The Mission Continues 1st Platoon Chicago is dedicated to enhancing the health and wellness of low-income neighborhoods by educating individuals and bringing communities together to promote healthier lifestyles.

“Our Platoon can help out by creating educational gardens that will help do more than just place healthy food options in front of residents. It will use gardens to educate, help with stress disorders, connect schools and universities to learning and researching crops. The more support and education we can give, the better choices residents will make in their own lives. We will create more than just a garden but a safe place to come and learn how to take healthier steps today and tomorrow.” – Kim McGraw, Fellowship Alumni and former Chicago Platoon Leader
