National Service Initiatives

Mobilizing Volunteers to Serve Communities

Moving forward, TMF Chapters and Service Platoons will carry out six national initiatives throughout the year. These focused efforts will take place across the country, addressing key needs in communities around national days of observance. TMF Chapters and Service Platoons, alongside other dedicated volunteers, will honor fallen heroes through the following National Service Initiatives:

  • January: MLK Service Projects
  • April: Earth Month Service Projects
  • May: The Honor Project
  • August: Back to School Character Days
  • September: 9/11 Heroes Run and 9/11 Service Projects
  • November: Veterans Day Service Projects

Outside of these national service initiatives, Operation Legacy Service Projects also take place year-round in honor of fallen heroes. Annually, volunteers give about 60,000 service hours of their time – a value of more than $2 million invested back into communities.
