Humane Rescue Alliance Updates

August 15, 2026

09:00 AM - 01:00 PM EDT

Washington, DC Platoon

Event overview

Calling all animal lovers! Join Travis Manion Foundation's National Capital Region Service Platoon as we lend a helping hand and a little extra love to the dogs, cats, and dedicated caregivers at the Humane Rescue Alliance. Together, we'll tackle a variety of projects designed to make life a little brighter for the animals awaiting their forever homes. Volunteer tasks may include repairing fencing, installing a sun shade barrier, pulling weeds, painting, and sprucing up the outdoor play yards where puppies spend their days running, playing, and socializing. Whether you enjoy working with your hands, beautifying spaces, or simply giving back to a great cause, there's a role for everyone. Every project completed helps create a safer, cleaner, and more comfortable environment for both the animals and the staff who care for them every day. Come ready to serve, get your hands dirty, and make a pawsitive impact in our community!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
