Service Project

MLK Day Legacy of Service at Towne Twin Village

January 24, 2026

10:00 AM - 02:00 PM CST

San Antonio Platoon

Event overview

Every January we Honor Martin Luther King, Jr. for being a change maker. Because of his efforts to end segregation and racism in America, there is no better a place to honor Martin Luther King, Jr. than at Towne Twin Village.

Towne Twin Village is a significant permanent supportive housing community in San Antonio, TX, designed for chronically homeless elderly citizens with disabilities, offering tiny homes, RVs, and apartments with wraparound services like healthcare, laundry, and mail access to provide dignity, stability, and a true home environment. This innovative project, a collaboration between the City of San Antonio, Bexar County, and the faith-based Housing First Community Coalition, aims to provide over 200 residents with a safe, supportive community to live.

This community is so special in so many ways and It all began with a dream, much like Martin Luther King, Jr. There are 8 sections where tiny houses front doors face towards each other in a circle. In the center there is a covered area where we will be building ADA compliant picnic tables and/or table and benches.

We would love to have you come be apart of this amazing service project that will impact so many individuals. Don't wait to sign up as slots will fill up fast.

As always, we can't wait to see all your lovely faces and to serve along side you.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
