WVLP Morning Prep

May 17, 2025

09:00 AM - 12:00 PM EDT

Washington, DC Platoon

Event overview

Join us as we prep and set up for the Women's Veterans Leadership Program service project. Many of you all have been through WVLP and we want to continue to collaborate with them as they are now transitioned to Beneath the Service. They are having their service project at Plummer Elementary School in the afternoon and the DC platoon is coming together in the AM to do prep for their project. This will include some sawing and measuring wood, prepping various classrooms and walls for painting/stenciling, and prepping the garden bed for new plants (to include removing current shrubs). This is going to be a huge impact project for the community, serving both Plummer Elementary School and the Texas Avenue Dog Park (the only public dog park East of the Anacostia River). This project site is located about a ten minute walk from Benning Road Metro Station (Blue/Silver). There is plenty of parking on the B St SE side of the school and along Texas Avenue SE past C St.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
