Service Project

Beautify the TCRC

March 29, 2025

09:00 AM - 01:00 PM EDT

Washington, DC Platoon

Event overview

The Tanner Resource Community Center was a vibrant community hub offering free food for needy families, a clothing pantry, a safe space for the unhoused, tutoring for children, and a resource hub. Covid forced the organization to scale back their offerings to only serve as a food distribution hub, but this place is ready to once again be so much more. Please join us as we help to beautify the center and get them ready once again to maximize their offerings to the community. This project will involve painting (interior and exterior), landscaping (removing shrubs and plating flowers), some minor repairs around the facility (replacing an outdoor light, installing a wireless entry, and replacing a shed window), and some light organizational build work. Please join us as we work to get this organization back to it's pre-Covid offerings.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
