Morningside Community Garden

Detroit Platoon

Event overview

Join The Mission Continues for our annual clean-up at The Morning Side Community Garden. Together we will mobilize volunteers to serve alongside local veterans and community members. The Motor City Grounds Crew maintains parks and green spaces throughout Detroit. Since 2013 they've adopted over 15 parks through the Adopt a Park program. For this project, we will be working at the Morningside Community Campus location. It's the site of 9 formerly vacant lots that have been transformed into a community garden. Scope of work to include: planting flowers, plants, and cleaning up the landscape around the garden.

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
