Killeen Platoon

Event overview

We invite you to join the Killeen Service Platoon in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s legacy of service and to celebrate our communities' volunteers. Our goals are the following: Site 1: Park Entrance and Community Pool - power-wash the monument, re-much the area, and help organize the chairs and materials in the community pool area, and police call. Site 2: Park Gazeebo - Repair dry rot, paint the support beams, and police call. Site 3: Park Pavilion - power-wash the concrete and metal tables, and police call. Site 4: Community Garden - re-align hollowed blocks, weeding, trimming/pruning, add soil, re-mulch, and police call. We will have the music, tools, and lumber to accomplish this mission in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s day. All you have to do is show up, sweat, and have fun! As Dr. King once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?" Please join us, and let's do this. Charlie Mike!

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
