MLK Day of Service at the Greater Boston Food Bank

January 20, 2024

09:00 AM - 12:00 PM EST

Boston Platoon

Event overview

AS OF JANUARY 10, 2024 REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT IS CLOSED. Due to capacity at the Greater Boston Food Bank, no additional volunteers will be accepted. Please check the TMC Boston website for other upcoming events in the Boston area. ********************************************************************************************************************************************* Join the Boston Platoon in supporting the Greater Boston Food Bank for Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. We’ll be working in the warehouse, inspecting, sorting, and repacking donated food and grocery products. Some volunteers load boxes onto conveyor belts, some inspect or sort products, and others check and label boxes. While a few of these tasks require the ability to lift a 30 pound box, most tasks require a volunteer to stand and inspect products or package boxes.

Please remember to wear closed-toed shoes for your shift (no sandals or flip flops).

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
