Photography Hike w/ The Misison Continues & Brushwood Center

June 25, 2022

10:00 AM - 12:00 PM CDT

Chicago Platoon

Event overview

Join The Mission Continues 2nd platoon for a photography hike event. We will be joining up with Brushwood Center . This hike will take place at the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie (https://www.fs.usda.gov/midewin ).

We will meet in a gravel parking area called The Iron Bridge Trailhead. There is an information kiosk and clean modern outhouses. From here we will hike mostly on crushed limestone trails but depending on conditions, we may walk in long grass. Total distance 1 to 1.5 miles, stopping along the way to discuss various features of the area. Part of our route takes us adjacent to the north fence of the bison pasture. Bison MAY be visible, but they roam in a pasture of over 1000 acres so seeing them is not always possible.

Brushwood Center will provide cameras as loaners for this event.

Will monitor for inclement weather

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
