National Day of Service - Softball Field Transformation

September 16, 2017

11:00 AM - 03:00 PM EDT

Philadelphia Platoon

Event overview

What better way to honor those who have fallen then to focus on those who are currently rising. In honor of September 11, we will be ascending upon Thomas Alva Edison High School once again. This time we are going to accomplish the near impossible; we will be revamping the women's softball field. The softball field consists of a fully grassed field with no dirt on the infield. We will be creating a new field for the women's softball team, along with installing previously built benches, building and installing dugouts for the women, and installing a home-run fence so the school will be able to host playoff games now. This is going to be an amazing opportunity for us to take a moment out of our busy lives and come together in solidarity on this occasion. In appreciation of the currently scheduled events happening in the great city of Philadelphia by our fellow VSO's here, we are going to schedule this event for the weekend after September 11th. Let's do this! #charliemike

Who We Are

In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Guided by the ethos “If Not Me, Then Who…,” veterans continue their service, build connections, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. Learn more about TMF at travismanion.org

Who should volunteer?

Our service projects are for all veterans with a desire to continue their service and for all non-veterans that want to be part of a nationwide movement to transform communities. Please note, age and accessibility accommodations can be made at any project. There is room for everyone to make an impact.
